Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, Director of Public Relations and Information Nigerian Air Force, in a statement on NAF twitter handle said the helicopter was lost in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North East.

The police have deployed over 50 more officers in Senator Dino Melaye’s Abuja residence.

The this came as the Senate on Wednesday said it had taken legal steps against the police for laying siege to Melaye’s home since Friday.

The red chamber expressed confidence that its action would ensure freedom for the embattled senator, who is representing Kogi West Senatorial District at the National Assembly.

One of our correspondents learnt that the police might enter the building forcefully to arrest the lawmaker said to be inside the house.

The police said Melaye is wanted for the alleged shooting of one Sergeant Danjuma Saliu attached to 37 Police Mobile Force while on official duties along Aiyetoro Gbede- Mopa road in Kogi State.

The police on Saturday allegedly cut off power supply to Melaye’s home as part of the strategies to make him uncomfortable so that he could surrender.

Force spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, stated that Melaye had repeatedly shunned several invitations asking him to report for investigation into the case of attempted culpable homicide.

He said the police would not leave the lawmaker’s residence without arresting him.

The leader of the opposition in the Senate, Senator Biodun Olujimi, told one of our correspondents in Abuja that the leadership and members of the Senate would not abandon Melaye to his fate.

The minority leader alleged that the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, deliberately frustrated all efforts by the Senate to gain access to Melaye.

Olujimi said, “We don’t want to be lawless that is why we are taking steps to see how we could handle the matter legally.

“The senator cannot run away, his passport has been seized by the police. Whatever it was that they want to arrest him for happened since July 2018.

“If he didn’t run away between July and now, he can’t run away. I felt very disgusted when I got to his house this morning and I discovered that there were over 12 police vans and more than 22 policemen there, seeking the arrest of one man.

“I wonder why they should do that when they can easily ask me as the Senate Minority Leader to produce him on a particular day and at a particular place. It is only if I failed to do so that they can issue a warrant for his arrest.”

A Lagos-based disck jockey, DJ, Seun Omogaji, aka DJ XGee has reportedly committed suicide moments after leaving a suicide note on his Instagram page.

Omogaji, according to sources, drank an insecticide.

In the post, the deceased said:

“Okay, there is a twist to this last respect people give to their loved ones when gone. Black as signs of sadness, but in my case please rock white.

“Why? Because I love this colour so much.

“To all I have made smiled and to those I have pissed off trust me, I am only being human. Enikorewa, I love you so much. Eriayo , your name sums it all up, u are truly the reason for my Joy.

“Omobolanle Ajoke, you know I care. Moradeke, my mum, may my God heal you and to my in-laws stay blessed always.”

At the time of filing this report, the reason for his action was unknown. Unconfirmed report however had it that he had been having issues with his wife, in the course of which she packed out of her matrimonial home despite entireties from family members and friends.

The police in Lagos State have arrested a 43-year-old man for allegedly defiling a five-year-old girl, whom he was supposed be teaching Islamic studies.

According to a statement by the state Command Spokesperson, CSP Chike Oti, the cleric was arrested after he was recorded performing the act.

“On Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, a good Nigerian visited the headquarters of the Lagos State Police Command with a video evidence of an Islamic cleric having anal sex with a five-year-old girl that he was supposed to be teaching Islamic studies.

“The complainant sought audience with the state Commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi.

“The CP, after watching the heart-rending video, directed the command’s undercover operatives attached to the State Intelligence Bureau to immediately arrest the culprit and hand him over to the Gender Section for detailed investigation.

“The operatives went in search of the Alfa and arrested him near a mosque in the Igando area of the state.

“He was taken from there to the Gender Unit, where the Officer-in-Charge, ASP (Mrs) Abimbola Williams, confronted him with the video of him defiling the child by penetrating her anus and private parts.

“On seeing himself captured like an actor in a movie, the suspect broke down and owned up to the crime. The case will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.” the statement stated.

The CP further commended the courageous act of the good Nigerian, and warned parents and guardians to keep constant watch over their children and wards.

“Nobody should be trusted. Be friends with your children and let them be free to share things with you.

“Do not cover up any crime, no matter who is involved. Raise the alarm on child molesters in your neighbourhood so they can face the law and others nursing such thoughts can be deterred,” the CP said.

The Italian reiterated that he doesn’t involve himself in the club’s transfer business much, instead focusing on matters taking place on the pitch.
