Oliseh surrenders to pressure, finally includes Kelechi Iheanacho

Abuja - Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh
has made a dramatic U-turn by including
Manchester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho in
his list of invited players for the 2018 World Cup
qualifiers against Swaziland.
Oliseh had initially invited 23 players for the
game, with the Manchester City youngster
conspicuously missing, despite his continued
impressive form for the former English
champions.
Moments after the list was announced by the
Nigeria Football Federation, Oliseh came under
attack on social media, with several Nigerians
criticizing the decision to leave out the 19-year
old who has been constant with the City first
team, in favour of the Arsenal youth-teamer, Alex
Iwobi.
Oliseh however made the U-turn hours later, with
the NFF announcing that Iheanacho had been
included to the list.
An initial list of 23 was released earlier on
Thursday by the Nigeria Football Federation but
Iheanacho's inclusion now increases the number
of invited players to 24.
"I initially called up 23 players but I am adding
Kelechi Iheanacho to the list immediately," Oliseh
told thenff.com after coming under fire for his
initial decision to omit the youngster.
"I have been following Kelechi's progress at
City," he said further.
Kelechi Iheanacho was named man of the match
Manchester City's Capital One Cup win over
Crystal Palace on Wednesday, where he scored a
goal and provided two assists to aid his side's
progress in the competition.
