Frank Lampard: My message to Chelsea players and Jose Mourinho
Frank Lampard says Chelsea players must
shoulder most of the blame after the Blues'
stuttering start to the season continued at Stoke
Frank Lampard believes that it is time for
Chelsea’s players to stand up and be
counted after the Blues slipped to their
seventh defeat of the season at Stoke City.
The west Londoners were beaten 1-0 by the
Potters at the Britannia Stadium in the absence
of Mourinho, who served a one-game stadium
ban handed to him by the Football Association.
The result left Chelsea 16th in the Premier
League table and just three points above the
relegation zone after 11 games.
It also marked the first time that Mourinho has
seen his side lose seven games in a league
campaign.
And former Chelsea midfielder Lampard feels
that it is down to the players as much as
Mourinho if they are to turn their disastrous start
to the season around.
Lampard said on Sky Sports: “He will get to work
in the week, but there is only so much he can do
in training and tactically.
“He has to be positive because there is so much
being thrown at Chelsea, there are players out of
form and low on confidence, you can see that.
“They need everything to be behind them in a
positive way and look forward.”
Chelsea’s next game is a home clash with
Norwich City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday 21
November after the international break.
