Buhari Is Not Healthy To Rule Nigeria – Pastor Blows Hot

The founder and general overseer of Living Christ Mission Worldwide, and Chancellor of Hezekiah University, His Grace, Most Rev. Daddy Hezekiah Oluboye has expressed concern that President Muhammadu Buhari was seeking for a second term in office in the 2019 general elections, DailyPost has reported.

The man of God made the proclamation in his Christmas and New year message, as he wondered why the All Progressives Congress, APC was fielding President Buhari as its candidate.

He said, “Honestly speaking, I don’t know why APC decided to ask Buhari to stand for election again.

“Number one, Buhari is not healthy. Is he? A person who is unhealthy cannot handle the affairs of this great nation. Why did they choose him again?

“I am not against APC, but I am against people who did not perform and yet they want to come back again.

“I am not like these other men of God. All I am saying is that personally, Buhari did not achieve much during his first term and it is proper to tell him to quit.

“Therefore, I am looking forward to seeing someone who will do better than Buhari, whether from APC or PDP, anywhere.

“We need to move this country forward because nothing good happened to this country during his first tenure.”

Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) vehicle drivers yesterday embarked on strike over alleged non-payment of their December salary and poor working condition. But the BRT sole operator, Primero Transport Services Ltd (PTSL), denied owing them salary, describing their action as politically motivated.

The drivers locked the gates of PTSL headquarters at Majidun, Ikorodu, Lagos and prevented other workers from entering. They alleged that they were being owed December salary and bonuses.

One of them, who preferred anonymity, alleged that they were owed November and December salaries and bonuses, but the company “hurriedly paid November salary on Christmas Eve.”

Many commuters were stranded at bus stops because of the strike. Those who could not afford the high fares charged by other bus operators, trekked. The yellow bus drivers increased fares by between 50 and 70 per cent. Ikorodu to Oshodi, which used to cost N200, shot up to N300. Fare for Ikorodu to CMS went up from N300 to N500.

The drivers said they would not call off the strike until their salaries were paid. “We too have families. It is sad that the management is not bothered if our families have a bleak New Year. Let them pay us and we will return to work,” one of them said.

He alleged that two years ago, “we protested poor salaries and wages.” PTSL’s Managing Director Fola Tinubu said no worker was being owed as at yesterday.

He said on the phone: “What they were initially owed was their November bonus, which was due on December 15 and their December salary. We paid both today, being the last day of the month. We learnt that they are now demanding the payment of December bonus, which is not due until January 15. We have explained to them that the bonus will be paid in January when it will be due.”

He said bonus was the company’s prerogative, adding that it was paid only to drivers who met certain standards every month in order to motivate them. Tinubu alleged the politicisation of the issue.

He urged the workers, especially drivers, not to allow themselves to be used by politicians. He enjoined them to remain law-abiding and work in the interest of all.

Labour Finally Declares Prolonged Strike Over Minimum Wage

Labour Finally Declares Prolonged Strike Over Minimum Wage

The organized labour has asked workers to fully mobilize for a prolonged national strike.

The labour Union came to this conclusion due to the inability of the government to commence the process of implementing the N30,000 new minimum wage.

The decision also came against the backdrop of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, rejection of the proposed new minimum wage of N30,000.

The organized labour conveyed its position in a New Year message by the President of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Ayuba Wabba.

The lengthy statement reads,

“Government’s dilly-dallying on the issue has strained government-labour relations with a potential for a major national strike which could just be days away.

“Accordingly, we would use this opportunity to appeal to the government to do the needful by urgently transmitting the bill on the new national minimum wage to the National Assembly.

”We also would like to use this opportunity to urge workers to fully mobilize for a prolonged national strike and enforce their right.

“This strike becomes the inevitable last option for us and we crave the understanding and support of all Nigerians and businesses.

“We would want to assure workers that their labour, patience and diligence will not be in vain and that this leadership remains committed to giving all it takes to ensure that they get just and fair wages due to them in a decent work environment appropriate to their well-being.

“This leadership is similarly committed to ensuring there is social protection for workers.

“In the year that is ahead of us, the Nigeria Labour Congress remains unequivocally committed to national and workers’ goals.

“It saluted the contribution and sacrifice of the entire workforce, great men and women, saying:

“We use this occasion to reach out to all workers, pensioners and other citizens in Nigeria and elsewhere with the message of love, joy, hope and goodwill.

“This day is an opportunity for celebration and stock-taking. Pursuant to this, our reflections on the year 2018 are both positive and negative.

“Throughout 2018, the NLC completely invested in the struggle to protect workers interests, promote democratic values, advocate the rule of law and defend human cum trade union rights. We sustained our fight against anti-labour practices at the work place and insisted on the observance of the rules of decent work and fair wages.

“We kicked against the rising incidence of unemployment, especially, youth unemployment and the danger it portends. We canvassed the preservation of existing jobs and creation of new sustainable ones through alternative policy options with potential for expanding the economy.

“Aside from the regular commemoration of May Day, the year was remarkable and memorable for the observance and celebration of Congress’ 40th anniversary. Many of our affiliates were to follow suit.

“One of the major activities in the year was the renewed strengthening of our relationship with our civil society allies through regular collaboration and mutual engagement.

“Congress remained vigilant and responsive to national issues as they unfolded and frequently made its position known through press statements, comments, communiques, state of the nation comments, etc which relatively influenced policy and legislation.

“Congress, for instance, always condemned prevalent violence in some parts of the country and called on government to bring this to an end. “Congress sustained its robust engagement with the National Assembly, especially on issues of concern to Labour or great national importance.

“At the international level, the year remains one of the most remarkable through deepened interactions, engagements, programmes and activities, culminating in the election of the President of the Congress to the headship of ITUC Global.

“In spite of these relative successes, the year remains one of the most traumatic for workers, especially given the failure of government to enact and implement the new national minimum wage of N30,000.

“This is in spite of the unimpeachable tripartite process leading to the agreement by the social partners on the new national minimum wage. It is unfortunate that the Federal Government is yet to transmit to the National Assembly an executive bill for the enactment of N30,000 as the new national minimum wage.’’

On campaign for industrialization, labour said: “We will work assiduously to promote and advocate the removal of all barriers to industrialization, growth and productivity. We should be able to build a country where we produce what we consume.

“We cannot continue to export precious jobs away to other countries through successive poor policy choices of government and expect to change our unfortunate status as the poverty capital of the world.

“In 2018, government at different levels in Nigeria tried to use the “No Work… No Pay” to hound and victimize workers. This policy actually arises from clear violation of Collective Bargaining Agreement by the same government that seeks to use the policy against workers.

“The fact is that the obnoxious policy of “No Work… No Pay” is derived from Decree 54 of 1977 which even military regimes that promulgated it refrained from deploying against workers. It is unfortunate that such cruel policy is being used against workers by a democratic government.

“There is no place in modern industrial relations for workers to be owed arrears of salaries. A case in hand is the recent shutdown of the government of the United States owing to disagreements between the executive and the legislative arms of government over budget issues.

“Most workers whose salaries were affected by the budget impasse were asked to proceed on leave until government is able to pay their salaries.

“In worker-sensitive climes, even our West African neighbours, it is unthinkable that workers would go home in a month without their salaries. We have tolerated this evil culture of prolonged salary indebtedness for a long time and government has taken advantage of our patience to extend the frontiers of this impunity to the policy dump site of “No Work… No Pay”.

“The Nigeria Labour Congress will continue to resist such unjust, draconian and insensitive policy and insist that workers’ salaries, pension and gratuity must be paid as when due.

”In furtherance to this, the Nigeria Labour Congress will intensify the struggle for regular, predictable and appropriate payment of salaries, pension and gratuity. This struggle will continue to be our topmost priority.

“In 2018 and the years preceding it, we demonstrated our commitment in this regard with rallies in defaulting states. We also demanded the probe of governors of such states.

“We went further to call on the federal government to make subsequent release of further bail-out funds or Paris Club refund contingent on clear evidence of judicious use (for payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities) of previous releases. We will continue to insist on accountability.

“Furthermore, the NLC will continue to promote worker-education and mobilization through Congress education programmes and other union training programmes. These activities would be religiously held with the objective of positive impact on workers.

“Therefore, we urge government at all levels to consider workers as assets and partners in development rather than liabilities.”

Sad! Canadian rapper, Jon James falls from a plane during his video shoot

Jon James, a Canadian rapper has died after falling from the wing of a flying plane during a music video shoot.

His management team said the 33 year old rapper died instantly in the “wing-walking” accident in Vernon, British Columbia. “He had trained intensely for this stunt but as Jon got further out onto the wing of the plane, it caused the small Cessna to go into a downward spiral that the pilot couldn’t correct,” said the statement, published alongside an online fundraiser to raise money for funeral costs and to release James’s new music.

“Jon held onto the wing until it was too late, and by the time he let go, he didn’t have time to pull his chute.” James had also enjoyed success as a competitive freeskier and was known for carrying out extreme stunts. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed they responded to “the sudden death of a parachuter” on Saturday evening.

The pilot was reportedly able to regain control and land the plane safely.

Doctors extract 122 nails and other sharp objects from a patient’s stomach

This weekend, Ethiopian doctors extracted over a hundred iron nails and other sharp objects from the stomach of a patient in the capital, Addis Ababa.

Dawit Teare, a surgeon at St. Peter’s Specialised Hospital, said the 33-year-old patient suffers from mental illness and had apparently consumed the items, including 122 four inch (10 centimetre) nails, four pins, a toothpick and pieces of broken glass.

“The patient has been suffering from mental illness for the last 10 years and had stopped taking his medication two years ago, one probable reason he started consuming inanimate objects.

I’m guessing he consumed the objects with the help of water, however he is a lucky person that those sharp objects didn’t cut his stomach. That could have led to serious infections and even death” Dawit told AFP after the two-and-a-half hour operation.

The surgeon said that while he had dealt with other cases in which people with mental illness had swallowed multiple sharp objects, he had never encountered a case on this scale.

Kenyan woman narrates how she was gang-raped, stabbed by her ex-boyfriend and his friend then tied to rails where train chopped off her lower body

A 27-year-old double amputee has testified before a Law Court in Mombasa, Kenya, how she lost her legs when her ex-boyfriend and his friend gang raped and stabbed her, then her tied to the rails where she watched as an oncoming speeding train crushed her lower body, severing both legs in Kibarani, Mombasa.

See LIB report on the horrific incident days after it occurred, including video here

The train severed both legs near the hips and she is now on a wheelchair. During the ordeal on February 3, 2017, she told the court, she was three months pregnant.
Irene Amukuma Aisha testified she had a fling with Stephen Mzee Thomas alias Kerenje who is on trial for rape and attempted murder.

Mzee Thomas is co-accused with Steven Otieno Okalu. She told the court Okalu was childhood friend for over ten years.

Aisha stirred emotions at the Mombasa Law Courts as she narrated the loss of her legs. You could have heard a pin drop as she narrated the ordeal reminiscent of horror movies.

She told Senior Principal Magistrate Henry Nyakweba that she was “married” to Mzee Thomas for only a month before they broke up.
She said Mzee Thomas and Okalu ganged up, raped and stabbed her before she was tied on the railway truck.

Okalu and Kerenje are still in prison after they failed to raise bail. They have denied the charges.

“Kerenje who had been my boyfriend for a month before I dumped him attacked me on the night of February 3, 2017 while I was walking home alone at around 4am. Okalu alias Otis stabbed me when I demanded to know why they were attacking me and proceeded to rape me and then tied me on the rails and left me there to be run over by the train,” said Aisha.

“They told me that I would die there as they walked away. The train was approaching quickly so I struggled to at least move my body off the rail and only managed to release the upper body, The train crushed both my lower limbs,” she testified.

Aisha said that she tried screaming to save herself by throwing loose chips at the approaching train to alert the driver but it was too late.

The train only managed to stop with her trapped underneath and both legs crushed. Aisha said the driver came up to her and upon realizing that she was alive and writhing in pain, honked and called for help from the neighbors at the area.

“The train stopped, the captain came over flashing a flash light, saw me in pain, I told him I was not dead. He rushed and honked to call for help,” said Aisha.

She said that her neighbor only identified as Kibwana was the first one to arrive at the scene and when he saw her under the train he asked what she was doing under the train.

“I told Kibwana he should ask Okalu (Oti) and Kirenje what they had done to me to be under the train,” said Aisha.

Aisha said that she underwent another torturous and painful experience after they reversed the train in-order to remove her from under the train.

“By the time they removed me my limps were mangled to pieces and had to carry me in a shuka and rushed me to Makadara but there was no help since the doctors were on strike. I was transferred to Aga Khan Hospital where I was admitted for a month and had both my legs amputated,” said Aisha.

The mother of five-year-old son said that her ex-boyfriend wanted to take away the son from her but she refused and that is when trouble started.

“The trouble began when he claimed that my son was his and wanted to take him away and I refused. So he swore to kill me and take away the child,” said Aisha.

Aisha told the courts that her ex-boyfriend and his friend Okalu had assaulted her a week before the horrific night while they were drinking at a den near where she usually operates her food kiosk along Mombasa-Nairobi Highway.

Aisha whose tears could not stop flowing said that on the fateful night Okalu grabbed her from behind and covered her with a scarf while she was walking home from a night vigil of her relative who had passed away.

Aisha said that she had seen the two at the night vigil so she requested the Disk Jockey DJ at the vigil to escort her home.

“The DJ left me at the railway line at Kibarani and returned to the vigil. Immediately he left, someone approached and grabbed me from behind and held my mouth and nose with a scarf. When I managed to turn, I saw Okalu (Otis) and Kirenje. I asked them why they were attacking me and Oti stabbed me on the left thigh with a knife. Otis proceeded to rape me and then they tied me by the rails,” said Aisha.

She said that while she was in hospital a police from Makupa identified as Madam Dorothy visited her and took her statement and proceeded with investigations.

Aisha said after she was discharged from hospital she was summoned to the police station where 10 men had been arrested and arraigned for an identification parade.

“There were 10 men paraded at Makupa Police Station for me to identify. They were all of the same height and weight and I was able to identify Okalu (Otis),” said Aisha.

She told the court she identified Kirenje while he was pushing a cart where she had gone to buy foodstuff at DT-Dobie and upon seeing her, he run away but was arrested by the public after raising an alarm.
