Cristiano Ronaldo had the perfect reaction to Real Madrid's embarrassing performance in El Clásico
Needing a win just to draw level with
Barcelona at the top of the La Liga
table, Real Madrid were instead
trounced at home in Saturday’s El
Clásico, giving up three goals as
Lionel Messi watched from the
bench. Luis Suárez struck first for
Barcelona, drilling a pass from Sergi
Roberto with the outside of his right
foot past goalkeeper Keylor Navas.
Andrés Iniesta’s brilliant playmaking
ability from midfield helped
Barcelona double its advantage
before halftime. Iniesta drew Luka
Modric and Raphaël Varane away
from Neymar, then slipped a pass to
the Brazilian, who slid a shot
underneath a scrambling Navas.
Iniesta all but sealed three points
himself in the 53rd minute, drilling a
shot from the edge of the penalty
area into the top right corner of the
net.
Barcelona then brought on Lionel
Messi as a substitute in the 57th
minute, and added a fourth goal in
the 74th.
