Frank Lampard says he loves players like Tottenham's Dele Alli
The former Premier League midfielder has
spoken highly of the young Tottenham Hotspur
midfielder.
Frank Lampard says he loves players like Dele
Alli who go the extra mile, according to Sky
Sports .
Indeed, Lampard praised the 19-year-old
Tottenham midfielder while in the studio ahead
of the north London side's Premier League clash
with Aston Villa.
And the 37-year-old highlighted Alli's work-rate
as especially impressive.
Analysing a Tottenham goal Alli was heavily
involved in, Lampard told Monday Night Football :
"I love players who go the extra mile. He doesn’t
need to do that but he gets his reward."
Presenter Ed Chamberlain then suggested Alli is
'Lampardesque.'
At half-time, the former Chelsea midfielder
added: "It was a composed finish and a great
run [for his goal against Aston Villa], he took his
finish very coolly." And, at full-time: "He can do a
bit of everything, after being called up [for
England] he's gone up another little level.
Alli's work-rate is certainly a quality to be
admired. Like Heung-Min Son, the 19-year-old is
the archetypal Mauricio Pochettino player: he
can run all day and has bags of energy.
Of course, critics of the Tottenham boss will
suggest most coaches will naturally do better
with players who are fitter and more energetic
than others.

But Alli has certainly thrived at Spurs so far and
Lampard's praise will no doubt boost his
confidence even further.
Following the Aston Villa clash, Tottenham now
host Anderlecht on Thursday night and then
travel to Arsenal in the north London derby on
Saturday afternoon. Not exactly the White Hart
Lane outfit's easiest few days this season...
