Hoddle: Arsenal need more goals from Mesut Ozil
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil may be in fine
form at the moment, but he needs to start
contributing with more goals given the
advanced position he plays in, according to
Glenn Hoddle, per his column for the Daily
Mail.
Ozil has been excellent so far this season and
no player in Europe’s top five leagues has
created more chances this season than the 47
he has.
His nine assists is also the highest number
across Europe’s top five leagues; however, he
does only have one league goal so far this
season.
Hoddle made the point that he feels that Ozil
has to start scoring more, adding that the
midfielder has scored 11 more goals for his
country in just six more games.
“Mesut Ozil has been excellent at times this
season and certainly his influence on the team
is more significant than before, with nine
assists in 10 games,” wrote the former
Premier League manager.
“It didn’t really happen for him in his first
season in England and last season he had a
three-month spell out with injury.
