Oshiomhole assures successor of strong financial base

EDO State Governor Adams Oshiomhole has
promised to handle over a financially healthy
state when his two terms of eight years expire
next year.
Speaking yesterday in Benin City at a
town hall meeting to round off activities
marking his seventh anniversary in
office, Oshiomhole assured that his
successor would inherit a financially
robust state government.
He promised to lay a solid and robust
financial base to sustain his numerous
legacies geared towards enhancing the
quality of lives and infrastructural
development of the state.
The governor said in the last seven
years, his administration had deployed
resources judiciously towards the
construction of roads across the three
senatorial districts of the state by
“building of new schools, the
construction of the state of the art multi
billion naira Central Hospital, erosion
control, prompt payment of workers
including teachers, effective security to
pave way for guaranteed enabling
environment for private investors to
thrive, among others.
“We will continue to reengineer the
finances of the state. We will enforce the
land use charge and we will now take
the land use charge to the high density
areas. We will take the charge to the low
density areas for a man who has over
two hundred acres of land.
We will not collect land use charge from
poor families, palaces, churches and
places of worship but this government
will collect the land use charge from the
rich, if you don’t pay we will charge you
to court.”
“I want to lay a solid foundation for my
successor to build on. We will introduce
the Lagos State approach. I want my
successor to meet a robust finance. The
task of taking Edo State to the next level
cannot be compromised,” he stated.
