“It’s been a long time coming. My last
album was release six years ago and I’ve
been working on this new album all
along. Today, I’m happy the album is
ready for my fans. For years now, I’ve
been looking forward to working with
2Face Idibia and I’m glad the song is on
this album,” he said.
Born Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe in Lagos,
Nigeria, singing sensation, Wande Coal is
one of Nigeria’s music stars, who shot
into prominence with his monstrous hit,
Ololufe. The first of two children, Wande
Coal had his primary and secondary
education at Staff Nursery and Primary
School, Ijanikin and Federal Government
College Ijanikin respectively.
Wande Coal got his break in the Nigerian
entertainment industry as a dancer. He
continued honing his vocals skills before
he got signed to D’banj and Don Jazzy’s
Mo’hits Records in 2006. He featured on
D’banj’s Rundown/Funk You Up album
on tracks such as Loke, Tonosibe and
Why Me, which received good rotations
on Nigerian music platforms.
Since his debut in the Nigerian music
scene, Wande Coal has shared the stage
and also recorded tracks with other top
music stars such as 2face Idibia, Burna
Boy, Ikechukwu, Naeto C, Dr SID,
D’Prince, Wizkid, AKA, Yemi Alade, and
many others.
In 2012, following fallout between record
label executives, Don Jazzy and D’banj,
Wande Coal joined Don Jazzy’s new
label, Mavin Records alongside Dr SID,
Tiwa Savage and D’Prince. He however
left Mavin Records in 2013 to start his
own record label christened Black
Diamond Entertainment.
