Yobe Govt. not happy with poor performance of students
The Yobe Government has described the
38 per cent performance of students
from the state in national examinations
as unacceptable.
The Commissioner for Education, Alhaji
Mohammed Lamin, stated this on
Wednesday while taking over the affairs
of the ministry in Damaturu.
Lamin, who expressed the determination
of the state government to change the
trend, urged teachers in public schools to
execute their duties with sense of
responsibility to improve the
performance of students.
The commissioner assured that the
Ibrahim Gaidam-led administration
would provide public schools with
necessary instructional materials and
infrastructure to promote teaching and
learning.
He declared 50 per cent as minimum
performance that would be tolerated in
public schools in the state.
He urged stakeholders, including
teachers, principals, parents and
community leaders to join hands with
government to improve the standard of
education in the state.
He added that “the challenge of
improving the education sector in the
state is a collective responsibility; all
hands must be on deck to achieve the
desired objective.’
