Egypt: Oliseh rejects Kaduna venue, tasks NFF to switch to Port Harcourt
– Sunday Oliseh has rejected the Ahmadu
Bello Stadium for Egypt showdown
– NFF insist on Ahmadu Bello Stadium
– The NFF have started mobilising fans in
Kaduna
The continued face-off between the Nigeria
Football Federation (NFF) and the Super
Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, may have
taken a new turn as the Nigerian coach has
outrightly rejected the Ahmadu Bello
Stadium venue for the crucial 2017 African
Nations Cup (AFCON) qualifier against
Egypt.
According to Complete Sports, Oliseh in an
e-mail, insisted that he prefered the Adokiye
Amasiemaka Stadium in Port Harcourt,
which has played host to the National team
since he was appointed as coach.
A top source in the NFF who pleaded
anonymity said: “Oliseh wrote the NFF
complaining about the choice of Kaduna for
the March 23 game against Egypt, saying
among other things that the team would have
little or no time to prepare for the first of the
double-header against the Pharaohs of Egypt
since it would be played on a Wednesday,
barely two days after players playing in Europe
would have reported to camp.
“He wrote in the e-mail that if the federation
choose Port Harcourt, the players can fly
directly to the Garden City from Europe since
there is an international airport there.”
Meanwhile, ahead of the crucial 2017 Africa
Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against
the Pharaoh’s of Egypt, the Nigeria Football
Federation (NFF) has started preparations to
ensure the Super Eagles get total support
from the stands at the Ahmadu Bello
Stadium, Kaduna.
