It’s time for patience not panic: Louis Van Gaal will get it right at Manchester United
MANCHESTER United might not be the most
exciting team on the planet right now – but
aren’t we losing sight of something here?
They are fourth in the Premier League, just two
points behind leaders City, and if I’m not
mistaken are top of their Champions League
group.
What more do United fans want at this stage of
the season?
Yes, they want to see more entertaining football.
Yes, they want their team to ‘attack, attack,
attack’; but isn’t it also about results? About
team development?
Paul Scholes, who hardly ever spoke to the
media when he was a player, now has an opinion
on anything and everything as a TV pundit. And
he has been scathing.
Many others have criticised Louis Van Gaal for
his defensive tactics. But look at results; look at
his record as a manager.
He doesn’t get many things wrong and whilst the
style of play might not be so pleasing on the eye,
how can anyone question the man’s intentions?
Certainly not Bastian Schweinsteiger who knows
the man, and understands his principles, from
their time together at Bayern Munich.
Nothing changes. He is what he is, and he will
create a team of winners. That’s what he does.
That’s what he’s always done.
Schweinsteiger knows him as well, if not better,
than anyone in the United camp and he says: “I
recognise similarities between Louis van Gaal
here and at Bayern Munich.”
It’s a time for patience, not panic. LVG will get it
right.
Schweinsteiger, as quoted on teamtalk.com
added: “In Munich, if you remember, it took a
while before the team understood exactly how
we wants to play football. But in the end we won
the Bundesliga title and made it to the
Champions League final… so the fans in Munich
loved him. We did the double.
“I’m sure Louis will bring success to United. I’m
convinced about that, but we have to do our
work and we have to improve. I’m convinced it
will happen. You have to be patient. But, of
course, during that you have to win, you have to
get results and you have to score.
