Sevilla, Liverpool qualify for Europa League final
Defending champions Sevilla will take on Liverpool in the Europa League final after both teams emerged victorious in their semi-final ties against Shakhtar Donetsk and Villareal, respectively.
After holding Shakhtar to a 2-2 draw in the first leg of the tie in Ukraine, Sevilla ran riot in Spain, earning a 3-1 victory, which gives them a shot at a third straight Europa League title.
Unai Emery’s men are the record holders in the Europa League with four titles.
Liverpool who fell to a 1-0 defeat to Villareal in Spain, following a cautious approach by Jurgen Klopp, needed to win while preventing Villareal from getting on the score sheet.
And just as they did in the thrilling quarter final against Borrusia Dortmund, they dug deep and thrashed their Spanish opponents 3-0 to reach the final.
